After several elections where the incumbent ran unopposed for the position of County Sheriff, residents have grown frustrated with a Sheriff's Department which is mired in scandal and controversy.  With no opponent to provide voters with a choice, the status quo was maintained by default and voters were given no voice at the ballot box.

That changed when Deputy Frank Rivero won the Primary on June 8th, 2010. 

On November 2nd, 2010 voters will have a unique opportunity to complete that victory, effect change and bring about reform by voting Rivero for Sheriff.

My Fellow Lake County Residents,

My plan to build a new sheriff’s office is simple: I will institute open, honest, responsive and accountable leadership and treat all people fairly by applying the law equally to everyone.  

I will re-direct our resources toward building a strong community policing model, locating substations and officers in communities to reduce response times and provide protection for the most vulnerable: victims of domestic violence, elder and child abuse. 

Other priorities include, transparency and accountability through citizen oversight; crime prevention by eliminating methamphetamine labs/distribution and combating gangs and organized crime; decriminalizing veterans with PTSD and mental health patients by referring them to appropriate services; and enlisting volunteer reserve officers to augment our paid staff of patrol and marine officers.

I am a licensed Coast Guard Captain, Merchant Marine Officer, and Mortician; graduated first in the 1984 San Francisco police academy; worked in patrol and narcotics investigations; and received more than 25 Captain’s Commendations and the coveted Police Chief’s Commendation for Exemplary Police Work.  I am also a former successful business owner with financial and people management experience. 

I am the only candidate for Sheriff with a clear plan to bring about much needed change through proven and practical solutions.
